This was the article that changed my life, man.
The man i was before and the man i started to become after the ambidexterity training are so different you couldn't tell they were once the same person.

Oh really? Was this the first time you started self development? That's really great to hear! :-D Is nice to know someone has benefited from one of the articles! How do you find you've changed? Just as in you've done a lot more self development since? Keep it up, you seem to be doing great :-D I'll try and write more like it, it was a fun project for me too and quite successful!

Do you do much ambidexterity training now?

When i started, i was like "I hate the world". towards the end i was thinking "how can i develop myself more?". :D

I believe it has to do with the other side of the brain beign more activated, because i became more open, light-hearted, and started to enjoy works of art more.

You see, i never actually finished the training. I never reached the spot where my lefthand writing was exactly equal to my righthand writing. Towards the middle, a friend of mine showed me an article which proves that ambidextrous people have less QI. At that time, i believed QI to be everything, and although i changed this mentality, i still don't train ambidexterity. Don't know why :? .

When you say Qi do you mean as in Chi?? I have never heard that connection made before!

But that's great that it got you down the self development path... I'm trying to think what did it for me! Possibly it came from my Step Granddad showing me some martial arts/bodybuilding when I was about 9. Interesting you should say that it could be a result of that side of your brain developing, it's seems like that the training can have some surprising effects so it's possible!

My two hands still aren't equal but they're definitely a lot closer! Am trying to think of what to learn next...

Hi Adman, this is my first post on this forum. BTW it looks great, and useful too. :)

I just wanted to ask you if you continued to practice ambidexterity and did you experience more negative side-effects like the 'that would never happy' incident? :D

I've read in some articles that ambidexterity could cause brain damage and that ambidextrous children are more likely to develop ADD and other scholastic disorders such as dyslexia. I'm not sure if it's true so I would like to find out more of your personal experience to see if it's worth of the risk. Thanks a million! :)

Hey Savatage,

Great to have you! Thanks for posting and I hope you stick around! I have carried on with the ambidexterity to a degree - you could say it's on the back-burner. No longer a consistent push but rather just something I do from time to time like - hey I could do this left handed! (I'm currently typing with one hand at a time so I can curl weights in the other...).

I wouldn't say I'm really suffering too much mentally. I did have moments of confusion when I first started trying but I think that was just because I was doing a lot new with my brain. I never had depressive moments or what I would call ADHD. In fact I think in this thread Rodrigues said he had really positive experiences from the training. I also know a couple of people who are/were ambidextrous and none of them have any problems. Logically I couldn't see it causing much damage - it's only lifestyle that leads to it and our brain is designed to be 'plastic' - to change shape in response to what we do with it. Cellists for instance have far larger brain areas to correspond with the tips of their fingers. We all have re-shapen our brains in one way or another just like muscle, and there's no reason why choosing to go left handed would have any more unusual side effects (you'd be increasing that area of your motor cortex - not the whole side of the brain).

I think the studies you've mentioned show quite a weak link rather than a very strong one - and you have to realise there are a lot of other confounding factors on a study like that (perhaps it was the brain damage that lead them to become ambidextrous not the other way around or something external caused both etc...), understandably it's a cause for concern.

My advice to you would be to carry on I think, but to just take note of what's happening and to make sure that you take a break if you do notice any confusion or mood changes. Like I say these could just be overworking. If you find that every time you try though you have a problem then I guess stop!

Have you begun at all yet? Good luck!

Yeah, I've practiced it for a while, I came across to your site while researching on how to improve my ambidexterity skill, but I stopped once I read those articles. Here's the link to one of them http://www.linkshaender-beratung.de/english/Ambidextrous.htm
