Hey, I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything's right... I said, Hey, I put some new shoes on and everyone's smiling and it's so inviting...
Okay, people weren't smiling at my shoes... but I was.
I've been pretty poor just lately, and it's shown in my attire. Particularly my shoes. Up until a month or so ago I was walking around in trainers that looked older than time itself that allowed me to feel each individual piece of gravel underfoot as I walked. Luckily I had my Speedsoles to put a bit of spring back in my step, but otherwise I was functioning at sub-optimal levels. That's why I was even more excited than usual when I got my new SpringBoost B-Trains. That, and the fact that these are no ordinary shoes.
What's special about the B-Trains is the 'dorsiflexion' (I presume that the 'x' is there to make it sound cooler, not that the marketing department were dyslexic), a specially designed aspect of the shoe that allows you to alter the angle of the insole. The idea behind this being that you can have your heal lower than the ball of your foot and thus force your calf into a stretch, which should in turn allow you to be constantly training your calves while walking around and jumping on things (or whatever you like to do).
So does this work? Well the short answer is that it seems too. At least putting it on anything other than dorsi one will make them burn to hell fire, and that's got to be a good thing right? 24 hour training - that's the dream!
And what of them as normal shoes? Well I've got to say they pass that test too... shock absorption, 'power plates' to facilitate the natural rolling of your foot, springy insoles (particularly with the speedsoles in there), great ventilation, laces & velcro... you name it. I just did a ten mile run and they served me excellently. Plus they give me about an extra inch in height, great for the vertically challenged among us. In short, I feel like Paolo Nutini. Highly recommended.
Ooh next I'm going for B-Volleys... they apparently make you jump higher! SpringBoost rock, Transhumanism in a shoe!
